On a sunny afternoon filled with excitement and curiosity, the Sisters In Mind group embarked on a vibrant journey to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The V&A Museum in South Kensington, London, is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design, with a collection spanning over 5,000 years of human creativity. It’s home to everything from fashion, ceramics, and textiles to sculpture, photography, and global artefacts including standout pieces from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
A group of enthusiastic women many visiting the museum for the first time came together, drawn by a shared interest in art, history, and culture. Visiting the V&A with step-free access ensured that every member of the group could move freely and comfortably throughout the museum. The inclusive and welcoming environment meant no one was left behind.
From the moment they stepped inside, awe and wonder lit up their faces. The museum proved to be a treasure trove of inspiration. The group wandered through galleries showcasing intricate ceramic tiles, captivating artefacts, exquisitely crocheted bags, delicate pottery, sumptuous fabrics, and fashion that traced the thread of style across the centuries. Each display sparked conversations and shared memories, adding richness to the experience.
What truly stood out, though, was the global heritage woven into every exhibit. The women were especially captivated by the stories and craftsmanship from countries like Japan, China, Korea, and beyond. It was more than a museum visit—it was a cultural immersion that stirred appreciation for traditions and artistic expression from all over the world.
The highlight wasn’t just what was on display, but who they shared the day with. Laughter echoed between gallery halls as they bonded over favourites and shared reflections. One member summed it up beautifully: "It was an amazing day. We really enjoyed each other’s company."
As the afternoon drew to a close, one thing was unanimous—a return visit is a must. With so much more to see and explore, the Sister’s in Mind group left the V&A buzzing with inspiration, connection, and the joy of discovery.
